Child Rights Group Expands in SL

CRY, a group dedicated to ensuring that no child suffers from deprivation, discrimination, or exploitation, has expanded its presence in SL.

The India-based organization had a smaller presence in the Non-Profit Commons of SL, but have now opened up a virtual office in SL, adding to the growing list of non-profits and activist-minded orgs entering the SL metaverse.

One of the main functions of CRY in SL is to educate avatars about under-privledged children in India through what is, essentially, a form of virtual storytelling. CRY will provide displays, videos, photo essays, and development stories about children in India, with the intent of, hopefully, spurring virtual users to action. The location features an auditorium, a CRY shop, an outdoor cafe, a gallery, and a donation box where users contribute in Linden dollars.

CRY partnered with Indusgeeks, an Indian Metaverse Development company, to develop the presence. CRY also becomes the first Indian NGO to set up in SL.
