Investment in Virtual Worlds: Follow the Money

With a billion dollars invested in virtual worlds in 2007, nearly half of that in the last quarter, feels like enough cash flow to keep this bandwagon going for a while.

They can pitch it as investing in generating “Web 2.0 stickiness on a 3D platform aimed at kids” and claim all the money will go to the Teen Grid. Kids is where the cash is at, it seems, leaving us low-life adults to rant in frustration as the latest Windlight install crashes every 3 minutes. As BizOrigin posts:

There is no doubt that Virtual Worlds will see massive growth. It is not mainstream yet, but it will become so. It took years before businesses adopted the Instant Messaging technology. Similarly, once virtual worlds start permeating and pervading everything we do, THEN the business folks will jump in.
